Rebecca Johnson, NP
How many years have you been practicing and where did you graduate from?
I graduated from Maryville University as an NP after being a pediatric nurse for 13 years. I have been practicing as a provider now for 2 ½ years.
What do you enjoy most about serving Appalachian Mountain Health patients here in Western NC?
I have been here in WNC since I was a kid and watched my siblings and own children be born and blossom here. I have always wanted to live and work in an area that is so dear to my heart. Being able to make a difference with each patient and family, as well as the community in general, is rewarding every day here at AMH.
What is your approach to patient care?
My goal is to approach all patients with respect and acceptance. I want to empower children and teens to understand their bodies and how good health comes in so many forms. I think that treating the patient as part of the family is also important in good outcomes.
What is one piece of health advice you find challenging to follow yourself?
I wish I could get outside more. We have so much beautiful land around here that it is a shame I don't take more advantage of it.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
I'm from New Orleans and my brother owns a Cajun food truck in the area. His food is 100% my favorite around.
Do you have any special interests?
I spend most of my time with my two active kids and my four energetic dogs. In the little down time I have I love to read, sew, and cook.
What languages are you fluent in?
Other than English I speak "baby" pretty well.
