We want you to get the care you deserve.

Appalachian Mountain Health (AMH) provides quality, affordable health services at six locations throughout Western North Carolina. We are proud to serve patients in Buncombe, Cherokee, Graham, and Jackson counties. AMH is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). For you, that means we deliver timely, comprehensive, and quality health services to our most vulnerable and high-risk populations with dignity and respect – regardless of a person’s ability to pay. What makes us even more unique is that we integrate behavioral health (i.e., mental health services) into the primary care setting. Why not take care of the entire person - mind, body, and spirit - at one location, during one visit. We believe it's possible. We believe it's the right way to do health care.

WHOLE PERSON HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE

From the time you walk through the door, through when we take vitals, address your concerns, and connect you to community resources, we embody care. We partner with you to help you stay well, knowing you are the expert in your own care.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

INSURANCE

We accept many major insurance plans. If you have a question regarding whether an Appalachian Mountain Health location is in-network with your insurance company, please call the customer service number located on the back of your insurance card. Patients are responsible for knowing if we are in-network with their insurance company prior to being scheduled.

Appalachian Mountain Health (AMH) offers a program that reduces fees charged to insured and uninsured patients based on their income and family size. We base patient eligibility for this program on percentages of “Poverty Levels” determined annually by the federal government. Fees are determined either by a minimum fee or a percentage of the full charges. Insured patients may benefit from this plan as non-covered services may also be subject to a fee reduction.

SLIDING FEE PROGRAM

Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
