Meagan Williams, FNP-C

How many years have you been practicing and where did you graduate from?

I graduated in 2016 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Carolina University and in 2025 with my Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. I have worked as a nurse for ten years and am starting my NP career here with Appalachian Mountain Health.

What do you enjoy most about serving Appalachian Mountain Health patients here in Western NC?

I am passionate about helping to improve access to care to the people of Western North Carolina and in rural areas. I love being able to provide care in the place where my nursing journey began. I also love getting to hear my patient’s stories and get to know more about their interesting lives.

What is your approach to patient care?

My approach to patient care is to treat the whole person and not just their diagnosis. I try to understand each patient’s physical, emotional and personal needs so I can provide care that is best for them. I believe in building trust through listening, empathy, and clear communication so patients feel more involved and comfortable in their care. I also collaborate with the other members of the patient’s care team to ensure safe and comprehensive care.

What is one piece of health advice you find challenging to follow yourself?

Finding time to exercise! There are never enough hours in the day!

What is your favorite local restaurant?

It’s hard to choose just one! I love Joey’s Pancake House in Maggie Valley.
