Mary Beth Worbington

How many years have you been practicing and where did you graduate from?

I started practicing the Robbinsville office in 2024. I graduated with my Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS in 2023, and my Undergraduate with Biology Medical Sciences Degree Summa Cum Laude from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS in 2021.

What do you enjoy most about serving Appalachian Mountain Health patients here in Western NC?

They remind me of the people from my hometown, Soso, MS, which is a rural country town with a close-knit community much like Robbinsville (just without the gorgeous scenery and a little more hot). I also enjoy hearing their stories and what is going on in their lives. I like to take care of the whole person, so knowing a bit about my patients helps me to do that.

What is your approach to patient care?

Everyone deserves to be heard and taken seriously. I want everyone to have their experience validated and their concerns taken seriously.

I also enjoy promoting healthy diet and lifestyle choices so that patients have to take the least amount of medicines as possible. I like to treat the whole person and get to the root cause of health problems to allow patient’s to live their most healthy lives.

What is one piece of health advice you find challenging to follow yourself?

Implementing stress reducing strategies to manage stress levels. I am still trying to remind myself to take breaks and have fun.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

The Phoenix Food Truck – Robbinsville • Topoco Lodge – Robbinsville • The Dragon Pit – Robbinsville • Osaka Sushi - Cherokee

Do you have any special interests?

Personally: cooking, bird watching, hiking, taking care of my indoor plants, and playing board games with friends

Medically: Dermatology and Mold/Mycotoxin Illness

What languages are you fluent in?

The only language I am truly fluent in is English but I speak a fair amount of Spanish and would love to see more Spanish-speaking patients to continue to use that skill.
