Michelle Bell, NP
How many years have you been practicing and where did you graduate from?
I have been a pediatric nurse since 2011 in Knoxville and have loved peds since. I got my CNA in 2006, my LPN in 2011, my RN in 2016, and finally my MSN-FNP in 2025. I graduated with my RN from University of Tennessee Knoxville and then my master’s at University at North Georgia.
What do you enjoy most about serving Appalachian Mountain Health patients here in Western NC?
I was born and raised in Murphy so when I moved back from TN, I knew there was no other place I wanted to be when practicing. I love being able to be there for the kids in our area and their parents. I am a mom and wanted to be that support for the families who need me that I needed when raising kids.
What is your approach to patient care?
I encourage my patients and parents to be my teammate; I am here for them and want them to feel heard and seen. I like taking time to hear their goals and concerns so we can all be on the same page. I like to empower the families to make educated choices and not feel like they are not being heard or making an informed choice.
What is one piece of health advice you find challenging to follow yourself?
Making those small, positive changes that impact your health in the long run. Especially after a long day when it is easier to just pick something up from a fast food restaurant and not have the hassle to cook. However, this convenience isn’t what is best for any of us and doesn’t provide a well-balanced diet. Also… good sleep hygiene… I am the world’s worst keeping my TV on at night and not getting quality hours of sleep in.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Monte Alban… I have never had a sad meal over chips and salsa.
Do you have any special interests?
Outside of being a and mom, I enjoy fishing, being at the lake, traveling to the beach, wife and visiting the National Parks.
What languages are you fluent in?
English…I have that southern draw added in.
