Christina Humbert, PA
How many years have you been practicing and where did you graduate from?
I began practicing in 2020/2021 after graduating from Le Moyne College in Syracuse NY (Go Phins!)
What do you enjoy most about serving Appalachian Mountain Health patients here in Western NC?
The people of WNC are so resilient and kind. There are people from many walks of life - all with a story and from somewhere different. You can always learn something new or gain a new perspective in life from our patients.
What is your approach to patient care?
Primary care is a marathon not a sprint - making healthcare sustainable for patients and not just a “quick fix”. Also kindness and understanding. We never know what’s going on or where people are coming from. There is a lot of shame and fear that comes with healthcare and sometimes what it is “textbook” isn’t always a fit for everyone. So it's important for me to take the time to understand why people are the way they are and where they come from and what is their experience.
What is one piece of health advice you find challenging to follow yourself?
The importance of self-care and work/life balance. Life itself is also is a marathon not a sprint - you have to take care of yourself for the long haul.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Do you have any special interests?
On the professional side, I focus on migraines, trauma-informed care -especially in regards to somatic therapy and nervous system regulation, addiction medicine, eating disorders, common aesthetic complaints (i.e. acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation)
Personally, I used to be a yoga teacher and regularly enjoy taking classes here locally. I also enjoy doing anything outdoors - running, biking, hiking, camping, skateboarding (recently) - all with my dog!
What languages are you fluent in?
English and Spanish.
